The Equipment and the Method

I always have to refer to my recipe spreadsheet to make sure I always have the right gear on hand.

To save time, I’m making this post, and I’ll update it as I find things useful to include:

For the Brew

HEADINGDESCRIPTION
Gather Base IngredientsTo make a 7, 23 or 30 Litre Brew have on hand:
* The Wet Ingredients from the recipie (i.e. 1.4 to 2.8kg of Liquid Malt Extract)
* The Dry Ingredients from the recipe (i.e. 250 grams of Maltodextrin and 600 grams dextrose, plus any Dry Malt Extract)
* The Aromatic/Steeping ingredients from the recipe (i.e. at least 25g of hops, spices, fruits, etc)
Gather SuppliesTo start brew safely you will need:
* Brew Cleaner, to clean equipment before sanitising
* 1x Packet of Sanitiser, to sanitise equipment

Optionally, you may like to have distilled or some other source of water than tap water for your fermenter (such as rain water). You’ll want this on hand before you begin
Gather EquipmentRequired to brew:
* 1 x Pyrex 2L or 3L glass Jug
* Optional, 1 x 5L Pot for preparing ingredients ahead of the boil (can just use stockpot if easier)
* 1 x 15L or greater stock pot, heavier bottom is better
* 1 x Wooden Spoon
* 1 x Kitchen Scales, suitable for 1g to 5,000g
* 1 x Teaspoon
* 1 x Long Handled Brew Spoon (a wooden spoon will do, but you’ll be very sad)
* 1 x 30L Fermenter or Carboy Jug
* 1 x Tap to suit Fermenter
* 1 x S-bend Airlock or similar
* 1 x Grain Bag or Cheese Cloth for straining
* 1 x Sponge or cleaning cloth (new or clean)
